About UAK

Academy Chamber Choir of Uppsala (UAK) is a mixed choir with approximately 40 singers. Our extensive repertoire encompasses early music as well as new music written for the choir. Performing contemporary a cappella music has become our speciality, examples include first performances of music by Swedish composers Jan Carlstedt, Lars Edlund, Bengt Hambraeus, Thomas Jennefelt and Sven-David Sandström. One of our traditions is the annual New Year's concert where a major choral work is performed. In addition to our own concerts, the choir also performs at ceremonial events of the university. UAK has been on a number of tours over the years, in Sweden as well as abroad. We may also be heard on a number of recordings. The choir is currently led by Stefan Parkman, since January 2000 professor of choir conducting at the choral centre of Uppsala University.
